OVERVIEW:

We’re looking for an experienced and versatile Engineering Manager to lead a high-performing team responsible for our core payments platform, delivering payment optimisation through our award-winning payment orchestration products. Our platform is trusted by some of the world’s most recognised and loved brands.

In this role, you’ll operate at the intersection of product, engineering, and finance, owning both strategy and execution for mission-critical products. You’ll play a key role in driving new product development and innovation, ensuring we continue to lead at the forefront of payment orchestration.

Working with a modern tech stack — including Java (Spring Boot), Python, AWS Lambda, PostgreSQL, React.js, Node.js, and Next.js — you’ll influence architectural decisions, drive delivery excellence, and invest in the growth and development of your team.

WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING:

Product & Architecture Leadership

• Lead, support, and grow a team of software engineers delivering both customer-facing and platform capabilities.

• Guide architecture and design across our self-serve customer portal, real-time transaction dashboards, and intelligent routing engine.

• Shape product thinking alongside Product and Design to ensure seamless, intuitive user experiences.

Product Development & Infrastructure

• Oversee development of new and existing products.

• Ensure our products are secure, performant, and scalable — from design through to production support.

• Champion engineering quality through architecture reviews, hands-on technical guidance, and best practices.

Team Delivery & Culture

• Foster a high-trust, inclusive, and continuously improving team environment.

• Collaborate cross-functionally with stakeholders in Product, Compliance, and Business to deliver impactful outcomes.

• Lead incident response, retrospectives, and process improvements with a focus on learning and operational excellence.

ABOUT YOU:

• A track record of building and leading high-performing engineering teams to deliver complex real-time systems and third-party integrations.

• Experience guiding technical decisions, coaching engineers, and driving delivery in a fast-paced product environment.

• Strong hands-on experience with backend technologies such as Java (Spring Boot), Python, PostgreSQL, and cloud-native architecture.

• Exposure to frontend technologies such as React.js, Node.js, and Next.js is a plus — particularly in the context of building and scaling customer-facing products.

• Comfortable with modern DevOps practices including CI/CD pipelines, observability tooling, and infrastructure-as-code.

• Solid understanding of third-party APIs and secure data transmission (REST, SOAP, OAuth, etc.).

• Excellent communication and collaboration skills; comfortable working cross-functionally and across time zones.

• Passionate about building a strong engineering culture through mentorship, ownership, and continuous improvement.
